Pedestrian Long Bridge - Idaho's longest two-lane pedestrian walk and bike path. Great for endurance or triathlon training.

Cabinet Gorge Dam & Fish Hatchery - On Highway 200 East. Within easy driving distance. Located on the Clark Fork River, tours 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (30 minutes) daily. Groups by appointment. 266-1431 (seasonal).

Elks Golf Course - 9 hole course 1.25 miles east of town on Highway 200. Green fees are charged. 263-4321 (seasonal).

Schweitzer Mountain Resort - 11 miles northwest of Sandpoint, a ski and summer resort. Lodging, dining, sports and entertainment. Summer: scenic chairlift rides, hiking, mountain biking (including bike rentals). Winter: downhill skiing, cross country skiing, sleighrides, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and events. 263-9555.

Lake Pend Oreille - Idaho's largest lake is 43 miles long and has dozens of small lakes and many streams and rivers replenishing it daily. The lake's name is derived from an Indian Tribe called Pend Oreilles by early French trappers because they wore pendant ornaments in their ear lobes. Fish from the bridge to try and break Lake Pend Oreille's world record 37-pound kamloop record. Fishing licenses can be obtained at the Pend Oreille Sports Shop, Bottle Bay Resort, and Ellisport Bay.

Bonner County Historical Museum - 905 Ontario. Open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. An authentic pioneer cabin, homestead and logging displays. 263-2344.


Fosters Crossing - 504 Oak Street. Nine Unique shops under one roof. Antiques, books, jewelry, photo shop plus a delighfful soup and sandwich shop. 263-5911.

 

Bonner Mall - Sandpoint's ONLY climate controlled "one stop" shopping. JCPenney and Sears, plus 30 more shops. Open 7 days a week. 263-4272.

Art Walk - As many as 20 local businesses display regional artists work Memorial Day through September. Catalog available at the Chamber of Commerce office.

Panida Theater - In existence for more than 10 years, productions run from early July through mid-August. Additional entertainment throughout the year is sponsored by the Pend Oreille Arts Council and provides a variety of music, dance and professional theater.

Silverwood - Located south of Sandpoint is North Idaho's newest and largest theme park. Its steam train, plane and automobile collection, and airshows are now joined by amusement park rides including a log shoot, ferris wheel, and roller coaster (seasonal).

Sandpoint Farmers Market - In the center of town at Farmin Park, a farmers market takes place every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon and Wednesday 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. from May to October. Featured are locally grown fresh produce and a wide variety of related products.

Lake Pend Oreille Cruises - "The Shawnodese" is a classically styled ferryboat that operates from the City Dock at City Beach. "The Shawnodese" offers regularly scheduled 1.5- to 3-hour cruises throughout the summer season. In addition, dinner cruises and charters are available.
